Compassionate, Evidence-Based Therapy for Couples and Individuals

Do you and your partner have the same fight over and over without resolution? Does every conversation feel like it could turn into a battle? Have you grown so disconnected that you feel like roommates instead of partners?

Maybe trust has been broken and you're not sure it can be repaired. Or perhaps you're exhausted from trying to fix things on your own and wondering if your relationship can survive.

If you're an individual struggling with anxiety, navigating a painful life transition, or feeling stuck in patterns that keep you from the life you want, you're in the right place too.

At Journey to Wellness Counseling, I provide compassionate, evidence-based therapy for couples and individuals in the Loveland, Mason, Milford, Symmes Township and Greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. Whether you're trying to save your marriage, prepare for a strong future together, or work through personal challenges, I'm here to help you find clarity, build skills, and move forward with hope.

Who I Help

Couples who feel disconnected, stuck in conflict, or unsure about their future together. I work with partners dealing with communication breakdowns, infidelity recovery, loss of intimacy, trust issues, and the everyday challenges that come with building a life together. My approach is grounded in the Gottman Method, a research-based model that helps couples learn practical skills to strengthen their relationship.

Individuals navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, work stress, and personal growth. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. Together, we explore patterns, build coping strategies, and create meaningful change.

Couples on the brink of separation or divorce. I offer Discernment Counseling, a specialized short-term process that helps partners slow down, gain clarity, and make intentional decisions about the future of their relationship.

Engaged and seriously dating couples preparing for marriage. As a certified SYMBIS premarital counselor, I help couples explore values, strengthen communication, and build a solid foundation for a healthy, lasting relationship.

My Approach

I integrate the Gottman Method, relational therapy techniques, and mindfulness practices to create a supportive space where you can be honest, explore difficult emotions, and develop practical tools for change. I'm Level 1 trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and trained in Discernment Counseling through the Doherty Relationship Institute.

I've been married for over 25 years, and I bring that real-world understanding of relationships—the messy, beautiful, complicated reality of them—into my work. I know that lasting change takes courage, consistency, and compassion, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.

Inclusive, Affirming Care

I provide LGBTQ+ affirming therapy and welcome all individuals and couples regardless of identity, orientation, or relationship structure. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can show up authentically.

Getting Started

I offer both in-person sessions at my Loveland office and secure telehealth sessions for clients throughout Ohio. I'm currently accepting new clients and have morning, afternoon, and evening appointments available.

About Alison Sauer
MA, LPC

I know what it's like when relationships feel hard and when the person you love most can also be the person you hurt the most. I've been married for over 25 years, so I understand firsthand that long-term relationships take work, vulnerability, and a willingness to keep showing up even when it's uncomfortable.

Before becoming a therapist, I was a teacher, small business owner, and fitness professional. Those experiences taught me how to meet people where they are, communicate clearly, and create space for real growth. But it's my own journey of navigating conflict, rebuilding trust, and choosing connection over and over that shapes how I work with couples and individuals today.

I'm Level 1 trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and trained in Discernment Counseling through the Doherty Relationship Institute. I bring research-based tools, genuine empathy, and a direct but compassionate approach to every session. My goal isn't to fix you—it's to help you build the skills, awareness, and confidence to create the relationship and life you actually want.
